Last week I had three stellar students volunteer to stay after school for several hours to help get our first big tshirt order done in the screen printing lab! I'm so grateful for their help. We couldn't have meet the very short deadline without them! I've had these student for several years now and their positive energy and their creative talent has really made a bright impact on my classroom.
Thank you Anna, Tina and Kat! You're the best!

The students did a little assignment when I was absent of a skateboard design. I thought it was cool, so I wanted to share some!
This week's student of the week is Anna! Today happens to be her birthday!
This is my second year with Anna in Graphic Design (I had her in middle school art too!). She has a precise eye for design and creates beautiful work that is always compositionally sound. I'm grateful to have her as an advanced student this year and can't wait to see how she grows and develops her unique and delicate style throughout the year! Below is a photo of her and a couple of examples of her work. Today is a big day! First, we finished our collages and second we began our website. The website will be the space where students turn in their bell work and assignments for the remainder of the year.
Many of the collages turned out so well! I was especially impressed with my new Graphic Design 1 classes. Many of the students were innately applying concepts from our elements and principles of design. We haven't even studied them yet! Below are some of my favorite collages that have come from the classes. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have. Sincerely, Mrs. Quick Wow! What a great first couple days of school! It's been very exciting around here.
Yesterday, we spent all day discussing the syllabus and procedures. I had a little introductory presentation about myself, so students feel like the know me as a person and I become a little more "human". Parents, the syllabus and procedures is located in the corresponding class blog page in case you ever would like to see or review it. I also sent home a paper copy for your review. Additionally, If you're curious about who I am and my work, feel free to check out my little bio and portfolio by scrolling down on the "home" page of this website. Today we are starting collages in all of my classes. This is a good opportunity for students to become familiar with the concept of "layers" as well as an element and principle of design - space and hierarchy. For my returning students, it's a good opportunity to build upon and practice these concepts after a full summer! Layers are featured in both Photoshop and Illustrator and we'll study the Elements and Principles of design here shortly. I took a couple of photos from my 1st hour Flag High Screen Printing class. They are in the midst of the project right now. After all the collages are finished in all of my classes, I'll find some of my favorites and post them here. Whelp, that's all for now. Have a great weekend! Hello everyone! I hope you had a restful summer break. I, personally, can't believe we are starting school again so soon! Summer really has flown by. This week I'm getting into the swing of things and finally accepted that it's time to return. I have so many new and returning students. I can't wait to see the ones I know and I'm eager to meet all the new faces! I built a new website and registered the domain www.mrsquick.com. I couldn't believe that it was available (and some scammer didn't already buy it to try and sell it to me for a ridiculous price). Unfortunately, I've spent a lot of my planning time getting excited about my new website and less of it organizing my room! I have one more day before school begins, so I think I'll be able to clean it up before then. I still have a lot of work left to do to organize everything that I would like to this year. I should probably get back to that.... Cheers! |
