Hello! I haven't updated my blog in forever. It turns out, that working two jobs makes that a little more difficult to maintain. I hope that this year, with teaching being my only "official" profession I will have more time to keep you all updated about the amazing things students are achieving in the FHS Graphic Design program!
I had a really great summer, one of the best. I had the opportunity to travel to Louisville, KY with my former student, Kat Nelson. Kat placed took the gold medal at the SkillsUSA State Competition, which qualified us to attend this amazing trip together and have her compete at the national level. We had a blast together and Kat ended up taking home 9th place! She worked extremely hard and I am very proud of all that she has accomplished. The biggest project I did was a large-scale painting show at Criollo. This project took nine months to fill the space and I'm very proud of it. Check out this link to read more about this project in the Arizona Daily Sun article - Kayley Quick Creates Art to Benefit Animals. Additionally, I attended the CTE Summer Conference in Tucson and learned many new skills that I will be applying to my classroom this coming year. I enjoy the conference so much and I'm grateful for the opportunity to spend so much time with educators that teach in my same content area.
